Leave a lasting legacy: Plan how your wealth is passed on, so your loved ones receive the support they need, when they need it most

Because Leaving a Legacy Is About More Than Money

Imagine leaving your children with the financial means to complete their education, or ensuring your spouse can maintain their lifestyle throughout retirement.

Now imagine being able to decide not just how much they receive, but also how and when they receive it.

With the Distribution Settlement Option (DSO), you can do just that.

Instead of having your insurance/takaful proceeds paid out entirely in one lump sum, DSO allows you to structure how your beneficiaries/nominees receive the money over time, according to your chosen payout arrangement.

It’s a more thoughtful way to pass on your wealth, helping your loved ones manage their inheritance with greater confidence while keeping their long-term needs in mind.

 Why Consider DSO?

Help Your Loved Ones Make Their Inheritance Last

Receiving a substantial sum of money all at once can be overwhelming, especially for younger beneficiaries/nominess or those who may not have experience managing large amounts of wealth. With scheduled payouts, you can help reduce the risk of spending too much too soon, giving your beneficiaries/nominees a more structured way to manage their inheritance and plan for the future.

Provide Financial Support They Can Count On

Your family’s everyday needs don’t stop when you’re no longer around. Mortgage payments, household expenses, school fees, and medical bills will still need to be taken care of. DSO can help provide a steady stream of income through regular payouts, giving your loved ones greater financial stability during a difficult time.

Be There for Life’s Important Moments

Life doesn’t always go according to plan. Your children may need help paying for university, buying their first home, or navigating an unexpected medical emergency. With suitable payout arrangements, DSO can provide flexibility for selected milestones or urgent needs, while helping preserve funds intended for the longer term. It’s a way to continue supporting your family through life’s important moments, even from afar.

A Legacy That Grows With Your Family

Every family has different needs. DSO lets you think ahead and plan for the people and life stages that matter most to you.

For Parents With Young Children

“You may not always be there to hold their hand, but you can help make sure they have the support they need to find their way.”

When your children are young, your financial support touches almost every part of their lives, from the food on the table to the school they attend and the opportunities they get to explore.

If something happens to you, a large lump-sum payout may leave a surviving spouse or guardian with the added responsibility of managing a significant amount of money while caring for the children.

DSO allows you to plan for that future with greater confidence.

  • Support Their Everyday Needs: Arrange regular payouts to help cover household expenses, school fees, daily necessities, and extracurricular activities.
  • Be There for Their Biggest Milestones: Plan for additional funds at selected milestones, such as starting university or reaching a certain age, subject to the available payout features and policy terms.
  • Prepare for the Unexpected: Consider how advance payouts, where available, could help with urgent medical expenses or other unforeseen needs without leaving the family's entire financial future dependent on a single lump sum.

Your children will still have a future full of unknowns. But your planning today can help give them a more secure foundation to face it.

For Retirees Planning Their Golden Years

“You’ve spent a lifetime building your wealth. Now, make sure it continues to care for the person you love.”

Retirement is a time to enjoy the life you’ve worked hard to build. But you may also wonder: if you’re no longer around, will your spouse have enough financial support to maintain the lifestyle you’ve shared?

DSO can help you plan for that possibility, giving you greater confidence that your wealth can continue supporting your loved ones.

  • Help Your Spouse Maintain Their Lifestyle: Arrange regular payouts to help cover living expenses, healthcare costs, and other ongoing commitments, without requiring your spouse to manage the entire inheritance at once.
  • Plan for Rising Living Costs: Where available, an increasing payout structure can help scheduled payments grow over time, offering some support against rising expenses. Actual purchasing power will still depend on the payout terms and inflation.
  • Make Your Wishes Clear: Put a structured distribution plan in place so your beneficiaries/nominees know how the proceeds are intended to be paid, in accordance with your policy terms and applicable requirements.

Your Wealth. Your Wishes. Your Family’s Future

There’s no single right way to leave a legacy. Some families may need immediate financial support, while others may prefer a steady income over several years. Many may need a combination of both.

With DSO, you can tailor your payout strategy to reflect your family’s needs and your wishes for their future

Choose the Payout Approach That Works for You

Give your beneficiaries access to your wealth over time, helping them manage their finances with greater structure and predictability.

Choose a payout period of 5 to 20 years, with payments made monthly or annually, according to the available policy options.

Option A - Staggered payment

Level payout – Provide a fixed, predictable amount at each scheduled interval.

Increasing payout - Arrange for payments to increase over time, subject to the selected payout terms.

Customised payout - Tailor the distribution schedule to suit your beneficiaries/nominees anticipated needs and longer-term goals, where available.

Option B - Lump Sum Payment

Sometimes, immediate access to money matters most. Allocate a portion of the proceeds as a lump sum to help your beneficiaries/nominees meet immediate financial commitments, such as outstanding debts or other pressing expenses

Option C - Hybrid Approach

Why choose between immediate support and long-term financial security when your plan may be able to provide both?

Combine a lump-sum payment for immediate needs with staggered payouts for ongoing expenses. This gives your beneficiaries/nominees access to funds when they need them now, while providing a structured approach to managing the balance over time.

Total allocation must equal 100%

Special arrangement payout (Only applicable for Option A & C):
Your beneficiaries may receive advance payouts under specific circumstances:

For life events:
- Retrenchment
- Diagnosis of Critical Illness in early or intermediate stage
- Marriage
- Newborn child
- Reaching a selected age milestone

Default advance payout: 5% of total entitlement (customisable from 0% to 100%)
For severe situations:
- Advanced Critical Illness
- Total & Permanent Disability
- ICU admission (≥10 days with life support)

Remaining balance will be paid in full immediately.

The Greatest Gift Is Knowing They’ll Be Cared For
You work hard to build a better future for the people you love. With thoughtful planning, you can help ensure that your care and commitment continue to make a difference, even when life takes an unexpected turn.

DSO helps you plan for the wealth you build today. DSO helps you plan how that wealth can care for the people you leave behind
