On July 12, 2023, 705 Sun Lifers gathered at the Premiera Hotel for the Q2 town hall meeting which doubled up as a fitting tribute to the remarkable 10 years’ journey of Sun Life Malaysia and the outstanding individuals who have contributed to its success.
The event commenced with a welcome speech and business performance update by our CEO, Raymond Lew. He took a trip down memory lane to explain our fascinating 10-year growth journey, highlighting outstanding accomplishments and touch on the company’s bright future prospect.
The Long Service Awards took centre stage at the town hall, capturing everyone's attention as they celebrated the dedicated individuals who had been with Sun Life Malaysia for 5, 10, 15, and 25 years - honouring their unwavering commitment and dedication which became the backbone of the company's success.
Moreover, the town hall also recognised the outstanding winners of both the CEO's Award of Excellence, and the iShine Awards, a celebration dedicated to recognising Sun Lifers who continuously strive for excellence.
Adding to the excitement, the DCX Cheerleaders and drumline took the stage, further enlivening the event with their spirited performance. Beyond commemorating a decade of achievements, the event emphasised the spirit of unity and dedication within the Sun Life Malaysia family.

In support of the company’s long-term commitment to building sustainable communities, the Digital Client Experience (DCX) team, working hand-in-hand with Human Resources and Brand & Communications units, launched the ‘Bolder Food Aid Programme’ to aid the needy B40 communities.
The programme, held in collaboration with the Food Aid Foundation, is spread over four sessions in July and October, respectively. Besides food assistance for B40 families living in the Klang Valley, it was also a perfect opportunity for Sun Lifers to do their part for the society.
41 passionate Sun Lifers participated in the first two sessions which took place on July 17 and 18 at Food Aid Foundation’s central kitchen. Volunteers helped to wash vegetables, cut meat, cook rice, assembled, and distributed 1,350 food packs to needy families from the PPR flat in Sri Kota Cheras, Lighthouse Children Welfare Home Association, Ti-ratana, PK Caring Home, Anak Yatim Mary, Rumah Hope, and Yayasan Sunbeam Home.

The charming Melaka city was home for over 200 enthusiastic Sun Lifers who joined the exciting “10 Years Brighter Sun Lifers Amazing Race” which took place from July 20 to 21. This was the first leg of a three-part team-building adventure series aiming to build a bolder Sun Life Malaysia team.
The highlight of the event was the much-anticipated ‘Amazing Race’ team building activities which tested the participants’ wits, coordination, and teamwork.

On July 29, we celebrated ‘International Friendship Day’ with a specially curated #YouAreMySunshine Mini Event, held at our outdoor brand pop-up installation located outside the buzzing Fahrenheit88 in Kuala Lumpur.
The venue was transformed into a multi-faceted photo-worthy structure aimed at bringing people together for a moment of shared camaraderie – bringing to life our brand tagline: “Life is always brighter under the sun”.
It was a lively celebration filled with cheer and accompanied by live music by a skilled busker on the themes of friendship and happiness, that drew people from all walks of life.
Visitors took part in fun games such as the “Sunny Trivia” quiz, which tested their knowledge of their loved ones. Those who answered correctly were presented with a vibrant sunflower which represents the blossoming and radiant nature of bonding.
Additionally, visitors who answered simple questions about Sun Life Malaysia in the “SunLifeHappy10” Trivia Quiz received exclusive 10th anniversary merchandise, and Tealive vouchers were given away to participants who took photos with loved ones at the outdoor pop-up installation and shared them on social media.

We won the Sustainability & CSR Malaysia Awards 2023 for the third consecutive year. This year, we received the Overall Excellence in Community Diabetes Prevention Award which validates our consistent efforts to fight against diabetes. Our CEO, Raymond Lew, received this prestigious award from the Guest-of-Honour, Minister of Women, Family and Community Development, YB Dato' Sri Hajah Nancy Binti Haji Shukri, during an award ceremony held at Mandarin Oriental Hotel Kuala Lumpur on July 26.
On July 29, Sun Life Malaysia Takaful CEO, Jeffry Azmi Mohd Shah, received the Parents Choice Awards 2023 at the award presentation ceremony. We are proud that our multigenerational critical illness plan, the Prime Family Critical Care-i, was voted by Malaysian parents as the Best Critical Care Illness Plan for Families. Our DCEO, Ho Teck Seng; Chief Strategy & Transformation Officer, Irina Lim and Chief Product Officer, Patrick Chow were also present to witness the special occasion.
