On 11 July, the Distribution & Marketing Department held its Q3 deep dive meeting. The event began with an insightful address and business performance updates from CDMO, Alvis Wee.
Following this, our CEO delivered a compelling speech, emphasising the pivotal role of teamwork and innovation in our path to success. He shared inspiring anecdotes and encouraged everyone to continue pushing boundaries and working together towards our common goals.
Throughout the afternoon, leaders from our Bancassurance & Bancatakaful, Agency, and Brand & Communications teams provided updates on their respective pillars, sharing insights into ongoing and upcoming projects.
On 3 July, the M floor was buzzed with excitement as the IT town hall kicked off, gathering SLM’s tech experts for a mid-year checkpoint organised by the IT PMO & Governance Committee. This event was a vibrant mix of department progress updates and team-building activities.
The day began with team-building exercises where teams of five worked together to create the best rendition of the Sun Life logo. The teams were also tasked with creating a welcome poster for the department using generative AI technologies. The creators of the winning poster received RM200 AEON vouchers. The room was filled with laughter and collaboration, showcasing the creativity and resourcefulness within the teams.
Following these activities, COO Irina Lim provided a business performance update and shared the company’s five-year vision.
The town hall was more than just a meeting; it was a celebration of the team's achievements and a step forward in our collective journey. Thank you to everyone who participated and made the event a memorable one.
Our Agency team recently gathered at One World Hotel for the highly anticipated Agency Mid-Year Business Review on 16 July. The day was filled with energising updates and, goal-setting discussions to recharge our sales momentum!
CDMO Alvis Wee, delivered an inspiring keynote address, highlighting our achievements and setting the stage for the discussions ahead. Chief Agency Officer (Agency Recruitment), David Lim, followed with an insightful session themed "Grow & Build", emphasising strategies for sustainable growth. Director for e-Distribution, Benjamin Chua, was next with a sharing session themed “Powering Digital Capabilities", that underscored the importance of digital transformation in our industry.
The morning sessions seamlessly transitioned into a delightful lunch at Cinnamon Coffee House, offering the team a chance to network and share ideas. After lunch, Head of Brighter Academy, Shirleen Gan, led a focused session on 2H Training, preparing the teams for the challenges and opportunities in the second half of the year.
Head of Product & Pricing, Nicholas Lee then presented the latest updates on “Product & Pricing”, providing crucial information on our offerings. Chief Agency Officer (Agency Sales) Ashley Goh captivated the audience with her presentation on “Q3 Contests & Events”, outlining exciting initiatives to motivate our sales teams.
Head of Agency Admin, Lim Lee Lin, addressed Sales Quality, Conduct & Manpower, reinforcing our commitment to excellence and ethical practices. Chief Marketing Officer, Tricia Loh, concluded the presentations with a compelling discussion on “Building Sun Life Brand in Malaysia", highlighting our brand's growing presence and reputation in the market.
The day culminated with a powerful closing speech by our CEO, Raymond Lew, who summarised the key takeaways and energised the attendees for the months ahead. To wrap up the event on a high note, everyone enjoyed a Durian Feast at the Hotel Car Park, celebrating our shared achievements!
In the spirit of giving in Islam, Jeffry Azmi, CEO of Sun Life Malaysia Takaful, recently handed over a zakat contribution totalling RM300,000 to the Majlis Agama Islam Wilayah Persekutuan. This substantial contribution will be directed to assist eight asnaf (groups of recipients), to supporting the poor and underprivileged segments of the community.
This payment is part of the RM1.2 million zakat to be paid by SLMT for the financial year ending 31 December 2023, reflecting our robust business performance last year and our commitment to giving back to our communities. Our zakat payments also demonstrate our dedication to empowering communities especially the underserved and underprivileged segments.
Datuk Dr. Mohd Naim Mokhtar, Minister in the Prime Minister's Department of Religious Affairs, graced the handover event held on 16 Jul at the World Trade Centre, Kuala Lumpur. The event was organised by Pusat Pungutan Zakat Wilayah Persekutuan.

This innovative educational board game were played by a total of 40 Sun Life's Most Respected Advisors (MRA) during two training sessions on 17 July in Johor Bahru and 22 July in Putrajaya.
