#PlantTreePlantHope Programme – Second Tree Planting Drive Completed
On 27 August 2022, more than 60 Sun Lifers took a 3.5km trek through the Sijangkang Mangrove Recreational Park in Kuala Langat, Selangor to plant 150 Rhizophora Murconata (Bakau Kurap) saplings whilst learning more about the biodiversity of mangrove forests and their critical roles in fighting climate change.

This second tree planting drive is part of our long-term, 3 years #PlantTreePlantHope programme which affirms our commitment to build a more sustainable future for all.  The three-year initiative also supports the country’s “Greening Malaysia Programme” which targets to plant 100 million trees by 2025.

To date, 500 trees have been planted by Sun Life Malaysia 👏

Advisor’s New Office Opening
On 30 July 2022, Sirna Purnama, an authorised Sun Life Malaysia’s agency, had its new agency office opening at Dataran PHB, Shah Alam.  

The grand launch event was well attended by 70 attendees comprising Sirna Purnama Advisors and Clients and management representatives from Sun Life Malaysia.

This milestone supported our efforts to expand our distribution footprint to reach more Clients and to continue to deliver exceptional services to meet their evolving protection and financial needs.

The highlight of the day was the recognition of 5 qualifiers for the Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT) membership including 1 Court of The Table (COT) qualifier for the year 2021. The achievement marks another ground-breaking milestone for the agency.
 
Datapalooza Sparks Innovation - Learning Data Analytics from Experts
In today’s data-driven world, organisations are forced to adopt smarter, digital solutions, for example, data analytics, to respond to evolving customer demands.  

Sun Life Malaysia is glad to be sharing our experiences at the "Datatpalooza Experts Session" organised by Khazanah National Berhad on 19 August 2022 at the Mercu UEM, Kuala Lumpur. The session attracted more than 80 attendees from Khazanah.

Representing Sun Life Malaysia is none other than our Head of Strategic Analytics, Jeff Lim, where he shared views on how to put best data practices into action and key learnings from Sun Life Malaysia’s data analytics initiatives. Also present was our Chief Information Officer, Patrick Chung.

Sun Life Client Ambassador Team 2022 Launched!
On 1 September 2022, more than 100 Sun Lifers took up the challenge and joined the inaugural Client Ambassador Team (CAT), a new initiative under the EPIC (Empowering People & Inclusive Culture) and DE WoW (Digital Enterprise Way of Working) framework.     The new initiative empowers Sun Lifers to take on the role as Sun Life Malaysia’s brand ambassador to connect with Clients. It was officially launched through a simple flag off ceremony attended by CEO Raymond Lew, DCEO Ho Teck Seng and Chief Client Digital Officer Victor Cheong. Raymond, in his welcome speech, commended participating Sun Lifers for their passion to drive meaningful experiences for Clients whilst Mr Ho shared his thoughts on how to harness the Client centricity approach to deliver improved outcomes for Clients. Victor also took to the stage to dissect the core values of Client Pillars (Proactive Contact, Ease of Doing Business and Problem Resolution) which is key to driving positive Client Impacts. During this event, the Client ambassadors, who proudly donned their bright yellow jacket, took a pledge to affirm their commitment to better serve our Clients.
Sun Life Malaysia Honoured for Sustainability and Brand Loyalty Efforts
It was a winning streak for Sun Life Malaysia as we took home two renowned industry awards which recognised our long-standing efforts in advancing sustainability and brand loyalty.

First, Sun Life Malaysia was recognised at the 2022 Sustainability and CSR Malaysia Awards, winning the ‘Company of the Year Award’ under the life insurance and takaful segment. This is the second year we took home this meaningful accolade which honoured our ongoing efforts in building healthier and more sustainable communities around us, especially supporting the underserved community.

To further celebrate this momentous win, our CEO, Raymond Lew, also presented a mock cheque amounting RM 108,000 to HOPE worldwide Malaysia in support of various diabetes prevention, youth and women empowerment programmes for 2022.

We also won the ‘Best Loyalty Programme for Finance & Insurance (Bronze) Award’ at the Loyalty & Engagement Awards 2022 held recently in Singapore. This award is a testament of our efforts in delivering exceptional Client experiences and building meaningful connections through personalised brand and marketing programmes as well as Client digital services.

This is a regional award that recognises the best brand loyalty and marketing campaigns in the South Asia and Southeast Asia region.
 
Tete-a-Tete With Laura Money
On 21 September 2022, Laura Money, Executive Vice-President & Chief Information Officer of Sun Life, visited Sun Life Malaysia.

In a panel discussion with our CEO, Raymond Lew and moderated by our Chief Information Officer, Patrick Chung, Laura shared her views on Sun Life’s digital transformation journey and its critical role in driving sustainable growth for Sun Life.

She emphasised further, to remain relevant, it is important to embed or adopt relevant technologies to help us uncover innovative ways of meeting and anticipating the needs of Clients and advisors.

Despite a short visit, Laura had a fruitful time where there were sessions with the Management Team and functional IT leads and was also feted with a delicious traditional Malay cuisine for lunch.
